Alan Stacy has worked in broadcast television as a computer graphic artist and animator for many years before becoming a self-employed illustrator and designer. A self-taught artist, his other work includes costume design, art direction and makeup artistry for music videos, corporate videos, plays, theatrical films as well as storyboarding, props and original collectible miniatures. He also has taught cartooning and comic book art to kids and to adults, storytelling, drawing, advertising art and commercial illustration. He has a self-published graphic novel style version of Aesop's Fables and classic folktales. He is a sculptor, photographer, a fantasy writer, history buff and a musician.

His illustrated books in print are:

"L is for Lone Star, A Texas Alphabet", 2001, and "Round Up Numbers, A Texas Counting Book", 2003 by Carol Crane from Sleeping Bear Press;

"P is for Passport, A World Alphabet" by Devin Scillian from SBP 2003;

"G is for Galaxy, An Out of This World Alphabet", by Janis Campbell and Cathy Collison from SBP, 2005;

"Texas Zeke and the Longhorn", by David Davis, Pelican Publishing, 2006;

"Pennsylvania Dutch Alphabet" by Chet Williamson, Pelican Publishing, 2007;

He is currently working on "Alaska Night Before Christmas" by Tricia Brown from Pelican for 2008.

As far back as he can remember he has been drawing. "I have always wanted to make illustration my career, it's just that I've had a few detours along the way."
After finding the local SCBWI in 1997 he was gratified to have a group of kindred spirits, writers and artists who helped his career advance to the next level. "I must thank Melissa Russell (Duer) for the emphasis she made on the professional aspect of working in the field of children's books. Since working on the "Lone Star" alphabet book in 2001 my 20 year career arc of an "overnight success" has finally gained momentum."
